Anyone can answer this?

Postby kei10 » 18 Jul 2010, 12:32

Hello I'm new to this forum and i hope I'm in right topic.

As the Portalized/Pseudoform game whatsoever it's really awesome that how it is being made. As there are an open source I don't really know how to open those ".cpp" and ".hpp" etc; extensions and can anyone tell me what are the basic methods to do the portal? Just a basic explaination of the method, please no additional complicated informations because I'm using something else other than the program which used to create the portalized/pseudoform game... whatsoever.

Hope for to anyone reply soon.
Thanks.

This should probably be in the Support section. And I can't really help you, but what do you mean by "what are the basic methods to do the portal?". Do you mean how to create a portal? And next time you post, don't sign your post or add clan tags. I might sound a bit, well, unwelcoming, but it is hard to convey out this post without sounding a bit angry...

I would suggest looking through the source code, or some Lua stuff. Sadly, they are dropping the Lua support... I hope they can manage to somehow have it running side-by-side with Python.

And Null has completely dropped support for :teapot: . I asked him about it a while back, but he has "moved on". And sorry about the last half of this post being a rant - ~x( .

Oh sorry if i started this in wrong section. And oh yeah i was meaning that how to create a portal. But in other way, like how the portal was being calculated in such dimension. But anyway i found a method while trying to reply to you. A simple method was drawing first world (first reality) then for two portals, drawing another world "in" the first portal representing second portal's view and vice versa... Isn't that looks slowish? XD lol......

Sorry about the clan sign.
It's just I'm commonly used in the signatures everywhere, sorry about that.
I will stop using here if you like.

By the way, I'm not getting used to C, C++, C# (Oh, and XNA), Python, And either Lua.
They're just too hardcore--- Other words, astoundingly complicated.
I learnt GML and still on road to flash and java-- and i was planning creating portal thing in GML.
Sorry if you never heard of GML, it's called Game Maker-- in GML Language by Mark Over Mars (I think).

Thanks.

Yeah, unfortunately Pseudoform is pretty much dead. Null (the main developer) is pretty much done with it and without him it's hard to continue. It is open-source so you are welcome to take parts of the source and use it in your own project, but don't expect Pseudoform to go anywhere.

Instead of just a game, their making a whole new game engine. Ockonal and Sven have been working in it almost all summer; I've just been listening, and watching. Cool idea, I hope to help bring it to fruition. Just my 2 cents. If you want to try the old one, I think you can still download it on the download page of this website. And my friend uses GM, pretty cool, but not as powerful as C variants.
As far as how you create a portal in pseudoform, I think you change the upper left-hand corner from "prop" to "portal" then find one of the portal meshes and put it in the scene. Then, when you have 2 or more portals, you press 'f3' or one of the f keys to bring up the properties menu, then you connect portal a to portal b and portal b to portal a. That should do it, but I don't have a good memory.

I think when you connect a with b, b is automaticly connected to a. But it's long time ago since I last "played" Portalized.
