[Guide/Other] Beginner's Tutorial

Postby freckletoe2 » 22 Nov 2009, 22:08

I came to realize that there is literally ZERO manuals/tutorials/guides that come with this first release for beginners (ie there's no list of controls, keyboard schemas, etc.) So pretty soon I'm gonna start a list of controls in this thread. FEEL FREE TO ADD MORE

There is a README in the root of the release package that explains most of these things.

Wow. Is that what the world has come to, where seeing a file called README isn't enough to get someone to read it? Wow.

Sometimes I don't read READMEs too because almost every program has a README-file and they don't tell you how to use this but things nobody want to know.

I usually read them if I can't figure it out just by using it.

@ratfink: maybe developers shouldn't call them READMEs, had it been called 'instructions' or 'controls' or 'tutorial' or something idk i probably would have at least noticed it.

And they should be HTML becouse plain-text is boring and a bit hard to read. If you want I could make one.

READMEs can be accidentally edited easily but HTML documents can't (unless your looking and the page source).

I hate README's in html!

I mostly read them when I compile the game and then I don't want to have to start a browser, if it's an application that doesn't require X sometimes I don't even have one.

If the Game was encased in a folder labyrinth then you'd have to read the readme file for directions through it.

That way, they couldn't play unless they read the readme (passwords are better though I guess).
Best System: WindowsXP-32Bit-Pro, nVidia 8800 GT, Intel e6850 (3.0 Ghz), 4 Gigs Memory
Worst: WindowsXP-32Bit-Home, Intel Integrated, Intel Celeron (1.5 Ghz), 512 Mb Memory
(Just good enough to run Disorder 39 release with no artifacts.)
